The Green Mountain Writers Group will host the 2nd Annual Vermont Poetry Festival in Underhill Center at the Historic District No. 5 Schoolhouse on Saturday, April 20 from 10 AM ’til 4 PM.

We are looking forward to an opportunity to meet in person to celebrate the 2nd Annual Vermont Poetry Festival. On Saturday, April 20 the town of Underhill welcomes us to gather in the historic District No. 5 Schoolhouse for a day dedicated to poets and fans of poetry

At 10 AM, this live event will begin with a morning workshop led by Vermont Poet Jodi Girouard. Her call for “Ending the Silence” will feature a discussion on breaking through the restrictions and fear that prevent writers from living and sharing their truth. Attendees will then be encouraged to compose outdoors, along the banks of Browns River (weather permitting) and meet again at 11 AM inside the schoolhouse to share their thoughts and writing.

At Noon, we will break for a potluck lunch and barbecue on the riverside deck at Camp Sit ‘n Bull, my home and studio on Stevensville Road (right across from the historic schoolhouse). Feel free to bring beverages, (beer and wine permitted), a dish to share. Burgers (veggie and beef) will be provided.

At 1 PM everyone is invited to meet the poets and browse the books displayed inside the District No. 5 Schoolhouse. Live Poetry Readings will take place from 1:30 to 4 PM led by Jodi and I. If you would like to read, I encourage you to email me so that I can build a roster. Please click to register in advance if you plan to attend the morning workshop and lunch, so I can get a head count. Scheduled poets reading will be followed by an open mic for anyone in the audience who wants to share their own poetry.

We will provide free vendor tables for any authors who want to sign and sell copies of their books or merch. The schoolhouse will be open at 9 AM for setup.

If you would like to read, we encourage you to email me in advance to be included in the roster. Scheduled poets will be followed by an open mic for anyone in the audience who wants to share their own poetry.
